English Translation
[Son:] Mother, tell me a story
[Mother:] Son, you think I am your [maternal] grandmother [to tell you a story?]
[Son:] My sister tells me that you are my grandmother's daughter
Tell mother, of King or Queen, even if you just stay laying down
Mother, tell me a story
[Mother:] You are stubborn, my love and pride, listen, in the morning in a garden
Your father was taking a stroll, where ambiance was fragrant
[Son:] Where ambiance was fragrant? Yes, mother, this story!
[Mother:] Multi-colour flowers were in blossom, Dew drops were shining brightly
Light breeze was flowing, Water was flowing
[Son:] Water was flowing? Yes, mother, this story!
[Mother:] Birds were singing and chirping, suddenly a swan fell
From the height, being injured by the arrow, oh, the bird was suffering
[Son:] Bird was suffering? Yes, mother, this story!
[Mother:] Shocked, he picked it up, and it felt relieved
But suddenly hunter came, proud of his aim
[Son:] Proud of his aim? Soft but hard story!
[Mother:] Hunter asked for injured bird, but your father was protector
Then the killer of bird decided to be insistent
[Son:] Decided to be insistent? Now the story moves!
[Mother:] Kind hearted and cruel hearted started debating, everyone was claiming himself right
Then the matter proceeded to court of justice, public listened to the matter
[Son:] Everyone listened to the matter? The story is inching climax!
[Mother:] Rahul [my son] you decide, who should justice favor?
Tell me freely who should win, I want to hear in your voice
[Son:] Mother, what of my voice? I am mere listener to story
[Mother:] If someone hurts an innocent, shouldn't other help them?
Justice prevailed protector over killer, for justice is kind and sympathetic
[Son:] Justice is kind! What a story!

जिसने अपनाया था, त्यागा;

Poem is from perspective of wife (addressing her friend) of Gautama Bhuddha who renounced her and his married life in pursuit of truth and God.
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,
Tell me, would he have found me hinderance in his path?
He respected and loved me a lot,
But did he really understand me?
I had always consider that priority,
whatever he uttered and believed.
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,
In a moment's notice, armouring..
..our husbands, even against dangers of their lives,
we [wives] send them to war,
to defend the truth and virtue.
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,
Isn't my fortune all ruined now?
Of whom will I be proud of?
Who I considered mine, abandoned me!
Oh, I miss him so much.
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,

My eyes rue his cold-heartedness,
But tears falling from these,
How could he, of tender heart, would have borne?
He could have pitied me!
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,
I pray that he find truth he is seeking,
That he isn't worried by my pain,
How can I even condemn him?
My love for him as only increased!
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,
I am sure he will come back,
And bring back something nice and unique,
My crying life will wait for him,
And sing for him.
Dear friend, he could have spoken to me before leaving,

English Translation
You are a man, don't despair!
Do some work,
Bring some glory
Understand why you were born,
Lest it get wasted
Do something suitable with your life
You are a man, don't despair!
Be careful to not waste good time,
For when do good deeds go waste?
Don't imagine world to mere dream
Make your own way
Good bye, delay!
You are a man, don't despair!
When you have everything here
Then how can truth be farther?
You drink ambrosia of self
Rise and enjoy the elixir
.....
You are a man, don't despair!
Be aware of your esteem and glory
We are here for something, recall!
Everything may go but for honour
Even on deathbed this song may be sung
Why be afraid of abandoning comforts?
You are a man, don't despair!
